Manila Envelope from Jessica

One of the season's most anticipated snail mails arrived recently just in time for Christmas - my personal copy of the latest Manila Envelope courtesy of my friend, "The" Jessica Zafra herself. This a literary treat beyond belief. I love the graphics! I'll reserve the words for the next winter storm when I can curl up with a cup of hot Sumatra. It is that goooood.

To my frriends and the infrequent visitor, my best wishes for a happy Christmas. Despite the annual winter blahs, I admit, I've been truly blessed this year. Can't complain:)

Cirrus over Nimbus

After almost 10 years of service  between its previous owner and myself, I finally retired the original RAV4 for  this more recent model, still with the same designation - NIMBUS.

When I noticed this wisp of cirrus clouds over the horizon on today's "thinking drive" through McHenry County, I knew a  photograph  begged to be taken. (ABF)

Found: LEICA D-LUX 3

I got an early Christmas present today when a friend tipped me off to the last of an online dealer's coveted stock of Leica D-Lux 3's in Florida. People have been paying upwards of $800. for similar (and used!) items on eBay so I was pleasantly shocked to get the call this morning.

"Do you want a Leica D-Lux 3?", said the voice on the other line.

"Hell yeah", I responded, barely awake.

A Birthday Splash

Imagine for a moment if you will, this group out by the sea far from this confining glass cage. Islanders at heart, celebrations by the water seems to be in our genes. But Pinoys are good at adaptation and at least here, it looked like a good time was had by all.
